The reason why most people think that finding the best ice fishing boots is a complicated issue is because most people make it that way. Yes, I do admit that ice fishing boots are not like your everyday boots. But they aren't very far apart either. However, for people who are interested in ice fishing having a nice and high-quality pair of boot is important. Not only will they help you to make your fishing experience more pleasant. But they will also keep your feet warm.
All Are Not The Same:
However, when you are looking to buy a pair boots don't rush. There are a lot of low quality and poorly made ice fishing boots in the market. These boots may have a low price but offer very poor durability and quality. Which is why I am writing this article to talk to you about the boots out there. I have used some of these pairs myself and researched the other ones from the internet. After reading this article you will find it much easier to decide which one to purchase. So without further delay let's get into it.
Best Ice Fishing Boots:
1. The Original MuckBoots:
Now if you are someone who is a simple guy and likes everything to be simple. No matter if it is your party shoe or your fishing boot. If simplicity is your way to go then you will love The Original MuckBoots Adult Arctic Sport Boot. These are a pair of simple ice fishing boots made of rubber.
One thing that I find important stating is that Muck Boot is a very reputed brand in the industry. I personally love their boots and especially this model. So speaking about the boot it is made of rubber and has a rubber sole. The shaft measures approximately 14.5" from arch whereas the heel measures approximately 1.25". Now the reason why you will feel very comfortable wearing these boots is because of a unique feature. And that is the added toe protection with a wrap-up bumper. The 2mm thermal foam underlay added to the instep area also gives additional warmth. The boot is 100% waterproof, lightweight and flexible. The comfort range is -40° F to 60°F which is quite decent.
- The neoprene uppers stay soft and are tough in the rough.
- The rubber bottoms are very well constructed.
- The toe versions of the boots provide good front foot protection
- No leakage problem.
- Doesn't take much time to break in.
- The soles are not suitable for wet hard surfaces.
The Original Muck Boot Company Chore Mid is a comfortable rain boot with decent water resistance. Despite this, it is also the heaviest I wore, which is surprising considering that the height of the shaft isn't the tallest and the neoprene isn't the thickest. But,however for the price it charges you can't really complain much about it. |To carry your fishing rods you may need fishing rods bag so make sure you have one.|
2. Sorel Men's Conquest Boot:
The case with most of us who like to do fishing and traveling is that we don't get to wear anything we like. Even if we want to we cannot wear the things that suit us due to mother nature's threats. But,however, in the midst of it all, we still manage to look our best. If you are someone who wants to look good even when you are fishing on the ice then the Sorel Men's Conquest Boot would be the perfect choice for you.
Rugged and durable, this waterproof boot features a lot of unique features. Not only that. It also looks great. Now starting these boots are made of a mixed leather fabric. This gives the touch to the rugged look of the shoe. The shoe has a rubber sole and the shaft measures approximately 8" from the arch. The built-in gaiter bootie with drawstring and barrel lock snow collar adds extra comfort and padding.
Rugged and durable, this waterproof boot also features a molded EVA comfort footbed, a multi-direction rubber lug sole and 400 grams of Thinsulate™ Ultra insulation to ensure that feet stay secure, warm, dry and protected during demanding activities in extremely cold winter weather.
- Very warm.
- Takes almost no time to break in.
- Rugged and Durable.
- Good looking.
- No speed lace hooks
- No notch to allow for foot flex
- Not made in the USAGaiter useless for deep snow
- The lacing system could be better.
Overall,I would say that I really like these boots. These boots are warm, waterproof, and comfortable. There's little to no breaking-in required, and they feel very light on your feet. Between the laces and Achilles strap, you can get a surprising amount of ankle support for this type of boot.
3. MuckBoots Men's Arctic Pro Hunting Boot:
Don't be surprised to see another ice fishing boot from Muck Boot here. I told you they are one of my favorites. Now even though it may look pretty similar to the Original MuckBoots there are also quite a few differences.
Coming to the design it is pretty much the same as The Original MuckBoots. The only difference is the colorways. The MuckBoots Men's Arctic Pro Hunting Boot has an overall brown color outlook. The boot is made of synthetic material and so is the sole. Now there are a number of reasons why I like the MuckBoots Men's Arctic Pro Hunting Boot more than the other ones. The first being that The Arctic Pro allows the hunter to focus on what's important,to do fishing. It is my warmest Muck Boot, designed to keep your feet warm when it gets down to -60 degrees outside. Because every fisherman knows that if you are worried about your feet you don't have a shot.
These pair of boots are also very comfortable as well. And that is mainly because of the EVA midsole cushions with every step. Durability is also not a worry. These boots also provide insane flexibility. The flexibility of these boots matter, because no one would like to have stiff boots in such extremes conditions.
- The air mesh lining allows air to circulate and gives nice breathability.
- Very easy to use.
- The brown color combination looks really stylish.100% waterproof
- Not too bulky and has the perfect weight for an ice fishing boot.
- Very stiff and takes quite some time to break in.
- One thing that I have noticed about these boots is that they wear out very soon. Giving them a bad appearance.
Overall I would say that the MuckBoots Men’s Arctic Pro Hunting Boots is worth it. There may be a number of ice fishing boots in the market but they don't fully serve the purpose like this one. There may be some problems regarding these shoes. But in my opinion, they are minor problems and shouldn't affect your purchase.
Now no matter what boots you buy there is one thing to consider and that is no fishing boots will give you that insane amount of grip that you want for ice fishing. This is where the OuterStar Ice & Snow Grips come into action.
